A Trulia survey on new vs existing homes indicates that 41% of home buyers prefer a new home, 21% prefer existing homes and 38% do not have a preference.

There are many reasons why home buyers prefer a new home. 59% prefer the modern features, 56% like the ability to customize and 55% prefer new homes because they generally have less maintenance and repairs. Other reasons home buyers like to buy new homes include the modern construction standards, being the first to live in the home and living near other new homes.
