The lack of inventory of homes for sale has boosted the new construction market considerably. Freddie Mac is estimating 1.2 million houses forming every year over the next ten years nationally. A Trulia survey on new vs existing homes indicates that 41% of home buyers prefer a new home, 21% prefer existing homes and 38% do not have a preference.

There are many reasons why home buyers prefer a new home. 59% prefer the modern features, 56% like the ability to customize and 55% prefer new homes because they generally have less maintenance and repairs. Other reasons home buyers like to buy new homes include the modern construction standards, being the first to live in the home and living near other new homes.

There are a number of neighborhoods in Liberty Township and West Chester Ohio that consist mainly of new construction homes. Consider looking for a home in the neighborhoods of Carriage Hill, Foxborough, Glenview, The Knolls of Liberty and The Trails of Four Bridges.

The Lowry Team has found some great ideas for you to do this weekend! Many local parks and farms are having seasonal, family friendly events. Here are a few:

Saturday, October 11th is The Great Pumpkin Fest at Keehner Park. Features of the family friendly invite include a haunted trail, pony rides and petting zoo. Kids can also play and jump on inflatables and take horse and wagon rides. Beginning at 2 pm Madcap Puppets will have a show at the amphitheatre. The puppet show will be followed by a costume and a pumpkin decorating contest. This free event runs from 2 pm – 6 pm at 7411 Barrett Road West Chester, Ohio.

The Lebanon Mason and Monroe Railroad has their Pumpkin Patch Express running all weekend long. Trains depart from 1275 S. Mechanic Street Lebanon, Ohio at 9:45 am, 1 pm and 4:15 pm. The train ride takes you to Schappacher Farm in Mason, Ohio. Families can walk around the working farm, pet the barnyard animals and find their way through the corn maze. Before departing back to the train station, pick a small pumpkin to take home. Cost ranges from $8.50 – $18.50 depending on age. Allow up to 3 hours for the Pumpkin Patch Express experience.

Hidden Valley Fruit Farm is holding their Fall Family Fun Days. Get lost in the 7 acre corn maze, take a hayride to the pumpkin patch and visit with the barnyard animals. Older children can head to the green house for a scary maze through the Spook House. Family Fun Days also includes hayrides, train rides, a bounce house, playground and more. The farm, located at 5474 N US 48 Lebanon Ohio is open from 9 am – 7 pm this Saturday and Sunday. Cost varies depending on the activity.
