Keehner ParkWest Chester Ohio offers plenty of activities for children and their families to learn and have fun at the same time. In addition to the many parks, pools and playgrounds, there are scheduled workshops that the family can participate in together.

One example is the WOLF program.  WOLF stands for the World Of Land, Forest, and Friends.  The program is held on Wednesdays, during the summer months, at both 10:30 am and 1:00 pm.  The program is appropriate for ages 5-14 and is located at the Deer Shelter in Keehner Park, 7211 Barrett Road West Chester Ohio 45069.  Each class will have a topic related to the environment and nature.  Future dates that the WOLF program is being held are:  June 18, 25 and July 16, 23, and 30th.

The Nature Basket Program is another opportunity for family fun in West Chester Ohio.  This program is recommended for children 3-5 years of age.  The Nature Basket Program is held at 10:30 am at the Owl Shelter in Keehner Park, 7211 Barrett Road West Chester Ohio 45069. Each session includes a story, a talk about nature and a craft.  Upcoming dates for this program are August 13th, September 10th and October 15th.  Parents must accompany their child and help with the craft.

The Lowry Team - Cincinnati OhioThe Lowry Team has discovered plenty of Italian, German and Beer Festivals that are taking place this weekend in Cincinnati.  The 23rd annual Italianfest at Newport’s Riverboat Row starts Thursday, June 12th.  Sample Italian dishes from Pompilio’s, Bella Luna, Raniero’s, Roma’s, Gabby’s, Rappicci’s Gelato and DiStasi.  The festival features live music, a pizza eating contest, a cooking contest, games, rides and a photo booth.  Hours are June 12th from 5 pm – 11 pm, June 13th from 5 pm – 11:30 pm, June 14th from 11 am – 11 pm and June 15th from noon – 9 pm.  There will be fireworks at 11 pm both Friday and Saturday nights.

The 14th annual Mainstrasse Village Original Goettafest is being held in Covington. Cincinnati loves it’s goetta so much that are actually two local festivals devoted to this German breakfast sausage! Head down to Covington to sample goetta reubens, chili, omelets burgers and more.  Attendees will also enjoy arts, crafts, music, entertainment and kids activities.  Stop by June 13th from 5 pm – 11:30 pm, June 14th from noon – 11:30 pm and June 15th from noon – 9 pm.

Jungle Jim’s 9th annual International Beer Festival is this weekend.  The beer festival is taking place at Jungle Jim’s Oscar Event Center located at 5440 Dixie Highway Fairfield Ohio 45014.  There will be 350 types of beer from local and international breweries.  Cost is $45 if drinking and $15 for those not drinking.  Price includes a picnic style dinner of BBQ, chips, salads, and bottled water. The festival is running from 7 pm – 10 pm June 13th and 14th.

Partake in German food, beer and entertainment at the 4th annual Schwabenfest.  Tasty treats such as homemade sausage dinners and pretzel sandwiches will be available to purchase.  There will be an oxen roast Saturday night. Entertainment includes live music each evening and performance by the Donauschwaben dancers.  Schwabenfest is located at 4290 Dry Ridge Road Colerain Township. It is open from 6 pm – midnight June 13th and 1 pm – midnight June 14th.  Cost is $3.

Mother's DayMother’s Day has been an official Unites States holiday since 1914.  It is generally celebrated with flowers, cards, gifts and phone calls. This year Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11th.  The Lowry Team of Keller Williams West Chester offers some ideas to celebrate.

A Mother’s Day Brunch is a popular way to celebrate moms.  Many restaurants such as Jags Steak and Seafood and Stone Creek Dining, both in West Chester Ohio, offer special Mother’s Day menus and brunches.  The Cincinnatian Hotel, The Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza and Via Vite are all well known brunch venues in downtown Cincinnati.  Contact the restaurant directly to make a reservation.

There are plenty of places offering special discount to moms on Mother’s Day.  The Krohn Conservatory is open from 10 am-5 pm on Sunday.  The conservatory presents Butterflies of Brazil and is free to moms.  The Cincinnati Zoo is also offering free admission for moms on Mother’s Day.  They are open from 9 am-5 pm and are celebrating Zoo Babies.

Some families may want to pack a picnic and head to one of the many parks and playgrounds that West Chester Ohio has to offer.
