National Frappe Day, celebrated annually on October 7th, honors a drink that is open to much interpretation. Most refer to the Frappe as an iced coffee drink that is blended to produce a tasty froth on top. Others define the Frappe as a frozen drink made with fruit and fruit juices. Then there are those that believe a Frappe to be the equivalent of a milkshake.

Luckily, there are plenty of local restaurants to purchase a frappe no matter what your definition of one is! There are Starbucks everywhere selling specialty coffee drinks. Starbucks has become popular for their seasonal flavors such as Pumpkin Spice and Salted Caramel Mocha. In West Chester you can find a Starbucks at 8238 Princeton Glendale Road, 9244 Floer Drive and 7783 Cox Lane. Another place to try is Kidd Coffee located at 311 Nilles Road in Fairfield. They also have a second location in Mason. Gingerbread and Toasted Marshmallow are two of the seasonal flavors they offer at this local Wine and Coffee Bar.

If you define a Frappe as a frozen fruit drink, give Planet Smoothie a try. Planet Smoothie has a location inside LA Fitness at 9282 Allen Road in West Chester and at The Marketplace, 7578 Cox Lane West Chester. Their menu includes a wide variety of light, classic, energy, protein and super fruit smoothies. Panera Bread is a great place to go for both of these Frappe versions. Go to 9444 Civic Centre Boulevard in West Chester to sample their wide variety of coffee drinks and smoothies.

Lastly, if you interpret a Frappe as a milkshake, there are many delicious places to visit. The Cone at 6855 Tylersville Road is Cincinnati’s best soft serve ice cream. In early Fall they serve Pumpkin and Caramel shakes and malts. Unfortunately, they are closed for the season but we highly recommend you give The Cone a try in the Spring. Flubs is also a fan favorite with locations in both Hamilton and Fairfield. Flubs has been serving Butler County residents for over 40 years and is open year round.

The Lowry Team Keller Williams :: Trick Or Treat Safety Tips

Halloween can be lots of fun for ghouls and goblins but it can also be dangerous! The Lowry Team shares a few safety tips to keep in mind when trick or treating.

1 – See and Be Seen – Many accidents take place because of impaired vision or from the inability to see the trick or treater. Make sure drivers and other trick or treaters can see you. It is a very good idea to put reflective tape on your costume. Also, consider wearing a glow stick as a bracelet or necklace. Masks can inhibit your vision. Try face paint instead of a mask this year. Carry a flashlight so you can see where you are walking.

2 – Don’t talk to strangers – Don’t trick or treat alone! Go with an adult and/or a group of friends. Trick or treat in your neighborhood and only go to the houses of families that you know. Never approach and talk to a stranger that is in their car.

3 – You’ve got to be “tripping” me! – Most accidents that occur on Halloween are caused by tripping and falling. Make certain that your costume fits appropriately. Costumes that trail along the ground are a tripping hazard. Wear comfortable shoes that fit properly. Heels can can get caught in a costume or in the sidewalk. As exciting as Halloween night is, walk and don’t run.

4 – Fire Safety – Wear flame retardant costumes and materials. Use caution around candles and other flames. Many families have lit candles, jack o’ lanterns and fire pits outside on Halloween night. Especially on a windy night, this can be very dangerous.

5 – Check it out – Wait to eat your candy until you get home. Once inside your well-lit house, look carefully at each piece of candy. Make sure to throw away any pieces that have wrappers that are torn or have holes in them. If you received a homemade treat from someone you do not know, throw that out as well.

The Lowry Team Keller Williams :: Local Craft Shows

As the holidays approach, many local schools, churches and other organizations hold arts and crafts shows. It is a great opportunity to pick up some items for decorating the house for the Fall and Winter seasons. It is also a great place to purchase gifts for holidays, birthdays or just because. The Lowry Team has found a few venues holding arts and crafts shows this weekend.

The Lakota West Craft Show has been in business for more than 35 years! It has become known as one of the best arts and craft shows in the area. Wander through over 200 indoor booths. Concessions are available for purchase and there is an ATM machine on site. Lakota West High School is located at 8940 Union Centre Boulevard West Chester, Ohio 45069. Hours are Saturday, October 4th from 10 am – 4 pm and Sunday, October 5th from 11 am – 4 pm. Cost of admission is $1.

Sacred Heart Church in Fairfield, Ohio is also holding their annual craft show this weekend. The show will be open from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturday and 9 am – 3 pm on Sunday. The church is located at 400 Nilles Road Fairfield, Ohio 45014.

The Hyde Park Art Show takes place annually at Hyde Park Square. It is the largest one day art show in Greater Cincinnati. There will be more than 200, mostly local, exhibitors. A variety of mediums will be available for purchase such as paint, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, photography and more. The event, located at 2800 Erie Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio 45208 is free and open to the public. The art show is open on Sunday, October 5th from 10 am – 5 pm.

The Lowry Team knows first hand how many great activities are happening around town every weekend. It is can be difficult to pick and choose which ones to attend. Here are our Top 5 Picks for Butler County This Weekend.

This is your last chance to attend Fairfield Ohio’s Movies In The Park this year! The first Friday of each month through October, movies are shown at Village Green Park. This Friday, October 3rd, head to 301 Wessel Drive Fairfield Ohio 45014 for the featured movie. Be sure to head down early for the Fairfield Fire Department’s pre-show. They will have safety exhibits , fun activities and give-a-ways. Grab a blanket, some free popcorn and refreshments and enjoy the movie Hotel Transylvania.

The annual Fall Festival and Pursuit of Liberty 5k is this Saturday, October 4th at Liberty Park. The 5k begins at 8 am at 6757 Yankee Road Liberty Township Ohio 45044. The Fall Festival follows the run from 11 am – 3 pm. The kids can enjoy inflatables and an activity zone. There will also be horse and carriage rides. The festival will have food, games, vendor booths and more!

Jungle Jim’s is having a Weekend of Fire this Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th. The event is being held at The Oscar Event Center located at 5440 E. Dixie Highway Fairfield, Ohio 45014. There will be over 55 vendors in attendance and over 350 samples to taste! Listen to live music, check out some of the wild entertainment and watch a variety of crazy competitions. Besides hot sauce, you can purchase and sample salsas, rubs, spices and more. The Weekend of Fire runs from 11 am – 7 pm on Saturday and 11 am – 4 pm on Sunday. Cost is $8 for adults and $1 for children.

Niederman Family Farm Fall Festival is taking place Wednesdays through Sundays until the end of October. Visit with the barnyard animals, find your way through the 14 acre corn maze and find a pumpkin in the pumpkin patch. In the evenings (with a reservation fee) your family and friends can gather around the bonfire. Tell spooky stories, cook hot dogs and enjoy tasty s’mores. Kettle corn, cotton candy, caramel apples and more will be available for purchase. Hours are from 6 pm – 9 pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6 pm – 10 pm on Fridays, 11 am – 10 pm on Saturdays and 1 pm – 6 pm on Sundays. Niederman Family Farm is located at 4972 LeSourdesville-West Chester Road Liberty Township Ohio 45011. Cost is $9 per person.

EnterTRAINment Junction is having a Jack O’Lantern Junction this month! In addition to every day rides and attractions, activities include a trick or treat maze, kid-friendly skeletons and ghosts, an indoor pumpkin patch and Halloween themed train rides. Kids will be mesmerized by the miniature animated display of the town Halloweenville. EnterTRAINment Junction is located at 7379 Squire Road West Chester Ohio 45069. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am – 6 pm and Sundays from noon – 6 pm. The Jack O’ Lantern Do It All Special is $15.95. Check on line for discounts.
